Employees: This connection, Dynamic IP (DHCP), is only used in exceptional cases when a computer (or device) connects to the network through a wire in different buildings on campus. For example a laptop that is regularly connected to wall jackets in more than one building.

NOTE that this is usually unnecessary as there is a wireless network (eduroam) in most places for devices that connects in different buildings.

You apply for this connection in Ugla (for employees only): Front Page -> Computing Services -> Applications -> Wired connection (roaming)

Students: These settings above apply when your computer needs to be connected to Student Housing.

For computer to be able to receive an IP address dynamically, the network must be configured to accept an assigned IP address. To check if your network adapter can accept an assigned IP address, click on the appropriate operating system above (What operating system do I have?):
